Here is some information on the band and its members:
KYLE ANDERSON has been involved in the entertainment industry most of his adult(?) life. He recorded his first 45 in 1973, as the lead guitarist of the then instrumental band "The Company of Strangers". In
1977, he gave up performing and focused on a nightclub and radio deejay
career. It wasn't until 1992 that Kyle was bit by the performing bug
once again when he formed the dance trio "Straight Ahead Fred".
After that group ran its course Kyle created The Amazing Rubber
Band with original members Ric Johnston and David Knight. Membership
changes over the years have created the bands newest sound.
STEVE JONES joined The Amazing Rubber Band in 2000; already a veteran of the Okanagan music scene. Steve enjoys the business from both sides of the musical fence. On one side he is an experienced live entertainer, vocalist, musician and performer. Before joining The Amazing Rubber Band, Penticton audiences remember him as the singer and guitarist of the local dance band, “LOOSE CHANGE”. After he became a member of The Amazing Rubber Band, it was evident Steve’s sweet, high vocal range — as a harmonist and especially as a lead vocalist — would be instrumental (pardon the pun!) in creating the Amazing Rubber Band"s unique sound. On
the other side of that fence Steve is also an accomplished songwriter
and recording artist. He recently released his third CD entitled "Clear Blue Sky" – a labour of love three years in the making. The epic rock passages of Steve's latest album weave melodies you can't get out of your head. Previously, his 1999 CD "Full Circle" single "You've
Got A Way" received local airplay and the album provides an interesting insight
into his songwriting abilities — both as a collaborator and, in
his own rite, as a solo song craftsman. He released "Acoustic Bootleg" in the fall of 2006 and has been performing his original music at sold out concerts around Penticton.
GARY KNIPPELBERG is the newest member to don a Hawaiian shirt, replacing Patrick d'Aoust on guitar and vocals. Gary's been around the local music scene since the 80s, playing with local favourites CRUISE CONTROL, CROSSFIRE and the very popular BLACKJACK. He loves playing hockey and slopitch and is a rabid Beatles fan. He plays a George Harrison model Gretch Tennessean guitar and plays it great!.
